Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) hosted a workshop on WCO Strategic Plan (2019-2022) at Jaipur from 13th to 14th November, 2018.

WCO, with more than 180 countries as members, is the only global organization, which looks into the making of global standards and procedures for customs clearances at the border and their implementation. Member customs administrations have been divided into 6 regions. India is a part of the Asia Pacific region having 33 countries.

To mark the assumption of Vice Chair of Asia/Pacific Region of World Customs Organization by India, an event was held in New Delhi on 16th July, 2018 with the theme of “Customs Facilitating Cross Border Clearances”. The ceremony was attended by delegates from 30 countries of Asia Pacific Region, Customs officers of India from different areas, Partner Government Agencies and representatives of trade and industry.

The Fiji Revenue and Customs Authority (FRCA) in cooperation with the World Customs Organization (WCO) and the Central Board of Customs and Excise (CBEC) India hosted a national workshop on the SAFE Framework of Standards (FoS) and Authorized Economic Operator (AEO) Programme from 5th to 8th June, 2017.

The 76th session of the WCO Policy Commission, chaired by Mr. Ruslan Davydov, was held in Moscow, Russian Federation from the 5th – 7th December, 2016. Representatives from 30 member countries were in attendance.

The 14th annual WCO A/P Regional Heads of Training Centers (RTCs) Meeting was held from the 7th to the 9th of December, 2016 at the Hong Kong Customs Headquarters Building in China. A total of twenty-two delegates attended the Meeting alongside representatives from the WCO Secretariat, Asia/Pacific Vice-Chair Secretariat as well as the ROCB A/P.

With the support of Directorate General of Customs and Excise of Indonesia, the 27th Administrative Meeting of National Contact Points (NCP) of the WCO Regional Intelligence Liaison Office for Asia and the Pacific (RILO A/P) was held in Yogyakarta, Indonesia from 15 to 17 September 2015.

Nineteen officers of Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD) participated in the WCO RILO A/P Expert Mission Training held from 11th to 13th August 2015 at Royal Malaysian Customs Headquaters, Putrajaya. Four officers of RILO A/P and one officer from Korea Customs Service were the trainers for the course.
