The ABF in its capacity as the World Customs Organization (WCO) Asia/Pacific Regional Vice-Chair hosted the WCO Asia/Pacific Region Digital Forensics Workshop in Perth, Australia, from 17-21 October 2022. This event was undertaken in cooperation with WCO Customs Operational Practices for Enforcement and Seizure (COPES), the Asia/Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB A/P) and sponsored by Japan Customs.
Digital Forensics is an important capability for the collection of evidence and resources for investigations by Customs administrations.
With a focus on cyber investigation techniques, extraction of data on IT tools and digital evidence management, the workshop also provided an opportunity for experts and participants to share experiences and to discuss the way forward, as well as to raise awareness and provide a platform to share regional best practices.
The Asia/Pacific Regional Vice-Chair aims to continue hosting and supporting a series of capacity building events in its tenure.
