On the 18th – 20th November 2014, the Royal Malaysian Customs Department (RMCD), as the current Vice Chair for Asia Pacific hosted the 24th Regional Contact Point Meeting in Langkawi, Malaysia. The meeting was attended by 49 delegates from 21 Asia Pacific Members and 4 international/regional bodies namely, World Customs Organisation (WCO), WCO Asia Pacific Regional Office for Capacity Building (ROCB A/P), WCO Regional Intelligence Liaison Office for Asia and the Pacific (RILO A/P) and International Monetary Fund (IMF). The meeting was officiated by the Director General, Dato’ Sri Khazali Ahmad.
The meeting reviewed and discussed issues, amongst others, “The Future of the Regional Steering Group and Regional Contact Points Meetings”, “Customs Anti-Drug Strategy”, “Inclusion of Appropriate Private Sector Groups at Future Regional Heads Conferences” and further deliberated the “Proposed Review of Term of Reference for the Private Sector Consultative Group (PSCG)”.
Finally, on the invitation of the Vice Chair, the meeting was reminded on the upcoming 16th Regional Heads of Customs Administration (RHCA) Conference that is scheduled to be held back to back with the Integrity Dialogue in Melbourne, Australia on the 5th and 6th of February 2015.
