Director General of Royal Malaysian Customs, Dato’ Sri Khazali bin Hj. Ahmad received a courtesy call on 23rd December 2013 by the newly appointed US Ambassador to Malaysia, His Excellency Joseph Y. Yun to discuss Customs issues involving concerns and interest of both countries. Ambassador Yun was accompanied by Mr. Andrew Herrup, Economic Counsellor at the US Embassy in Malaysia and Dato’ Hj. Matrang bin Suhaili, Deputy Director General of Customs (Enforcement and Compliance) as well as Dato’ Hj. Zainul Abidin bin Taib, Assistant Director General of Customs (Enforcement) were also present during the discussion.

Both parties took the opportunity to briefly discuss on Customs matters concerning both the US and Malaysia, which included issues related to Trans-Pacific Partnership Agreement, Megaports Initiative program, the ongoing negotiations on Customs Mutual Assistance Agreement (CMAA), the implementation of the Strategic Trade Act (2010) as well other Related Border Security measures.Both parties recognized the need to further strengthen ties and bilateral cooperation between both Customs Administrations.
